In 2023 the Carson Valley Radio Club voted in a new board of directors and decided to merge both CVRC and NVCARS radio clubs and rebrand as the Carson Valley Radio Club.

The CVRC's primary mission is to support Amateur Radio.

The Secondary mission is support of the State of Nevada ARES/RACES programs for State, County, and rural organizations.

Please be patient while we update all of our Statewide Yaesu System Fusion linked repeater systems as well as our analog sites and complete the process.

Carson City ARES/AUXCOMM is a team of Amateur Radio Operators, licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), who have voluntarily agreed to utilize their skills and sometimes use their own equipment for public service communications support to both government and non-government entities. FCC regulations prohibit Amateur Radio Operators from receiving compensation of any kind for providing public service communications. We are always looking for new members! If you would like to offer your time and expertise for a worthwhile and necessary public service and have fun doing it, we invite you to apply for membership. The only qualifications are an amateur radio license and a desire to serve. There are no dues.

Washoe County Amateur Radio Emergency Service serves the regional Reno-Sparks-Incline Village area of Northern Nevada.

The Amateur Radio Emergency Service® (ARES) consists of licensed amateurs who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment with their local ARES leadership for communications duty in the public service when disaster strikes.

The Nevada Division of Emergency Management / Homeland Security’s (DEM) mission was originally established in 1953 under Nevada Revised Statutes, Chapter 414. On July 1, 2021, Governor Sisolak signed Assembly Bill 485 into law, moving the DEM from under the Nevada Department of Public Safety to the Nevada Office of the Military. This realignment has strengthened our mission and commitment to serve our local emergency managers at the city, county, and school levels; Tribal Nations; and private sector partners by improving efficiency and streamlining decision-making throughout the organization.

W7DEM is the Call Sign used for the Nevada Division of Emergency Management's Statewide ARES/RACES program.

The Carson Valley Radio Club is proud to support the mission of the Nevada Division of Emergency Management / Homeland Security amateur radio program.

ARRL is the national association for Amateur Radio in the US. Founded in 1914 by Hiram Percy Maxim as The American Radio Relay League, ARRL is a noncommercial organization of radio amateurs. ARRL numbers within its ranks the vast majority of active radio amateurs in the nation and has a proud history of achievement as the standard-bearer in amateur affairs. ARRL’s underpinnings as Amateur Radio’s witness, partner and forum are defined by five pillars: Public Service, Advocacy, Education, Technology, and Membership.

The Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation (as AMSAT is officially known) was first formed in the District of Columbia in 1969 as an educational organization. Its goal was to foster Amateur Radio’s participation in space research and communication. AMSAT was founded to continue the efforts, begun in 1961, by Project OSCAR, a west coast USA-based group which built and launched the very first Amateur Radio satellite, OSCAR, on December 12, 1961, barely four years after the launch of Russia’s first Sputnik.
